What Qualifications Do You Need To Become A Business Analyst
Question
I would like to become a business analyst in the software industry. May I know what is the minimum qualification which I would like to have?
Answer
A Business Analyst needs the following qualifications:
1. A Bachelors degree in an Information Technology or business oriented degree. You may even combine the two majors.
2 You do not need an MBA. YOu can get one if you want to but some people make the mistake of assuming that an MBA Educatin is equivalent to a Business Anallyst Education. But an MBA Education is not equivalent to a Business Analyst education althoug they two noth have the word business.
3. Excellent communication and presentation skills. A business analyst needs strong presentation and communication skills otherwise they will be better of in a more techical or programming role.
There is a difference between the type of functional education required to become a business analyst and general, college type education like an MBA.
While an MBA is an excellenet educational qualification for almost any Information Technology career and not just business analysis, it is not functional in nature so you won’t be qualified as a business analyst with just an MBA.
